Stage 6 Phonics

In Phase 6 children are introduced to the past and present tense. They investigate how to add a range of prefixes and suffixes to words and explore contractions. They practise spelling longer words using a range of strategies, such as syllables and mnemonics. There are also three tricky skills for children to master: using a dictionary, proofreading and comprehension.
